The Cabot family has been coming to the La Malbaie area since the middle of the 19th century, when Francis H. Cabot’s grandparents purchased the Mount Murray Seigneury to the east of the Malbaie River. They inspired an abiding love of the Charlevoix region in their descendants.
Francis H. Cabot (1925-2011)
Francis is the family member who left the most enduring mark on the region through his numerous landscaping and restoration projects and the creation of the splendid Quatre-Vents gardens.
Anne Perkins-Cabot
To express their deep fondness for Charlevoix, Francis and his wife, Anne Perkins-Cabot, founded Héritage Charlevoix.
Since Francis’s death, the Héritage Charlevoix board, which is chaired by his son F. Colin Cabot, has made it their mission to safeguard in perpetuity the substantial private investments the organization’s founders made in the historic sites the organization stewards while contributing to the region’s development and well-being.
F. Colin Cabot, Chairman of the Héritage Charlevoix board of directors
F. Colin Cabot, like his father before him, is a protector and champion of historic traditions and knowledge.
In addition to Jean-Claude Bernier, his partner from day one, Francis Cabot brought together many other people dedicated to preserving Charlevoix’s heritage during his years at the helm of the organization.
Today, Colin Cabot, Anne Perkins-Cabot, and other long-time partners sit on the board along with newcomers. Josette Murdock, director, David Blair, lawyer, Jean des Gagniers, art historian, archaeologist, and museologist, François Le Moine, lawyer, and Denis Patry, tax expert look after the corporation’s invaluable legacy with the support of CEO François Tremblay, ethnologist and museologist.
